Itway smiles with 4Science ‘More business in the US’The Ravenna-based company’s affiliate is active in data management for research and cultural heritage.
At the forefront of data archiving and analysis for scientific research and cultural heritage. This is the distinctive trait of 4Science – a company of the Ravenna-based Itway ‘stable’ – operating in the Big Data, Digital Repositories and Data Management Systems markets, specialized in the fields of scientific research and cultural heritage. It is listed on the Vienna MTF Direct Market and is expected to close 2023 with approximately €4 million in revenue, thanks to the work of about 40 direct employees. In the first half of 2023, 4Science recorded a 117% growth in orders (over €1.2 million) compared to the first half of 2022, with over 80 new orders acquired in total. Among the key projects are several with local public administrations that adopted the open-source platform DSpace, offered in two versions developed by 4Science – CRIS (Current Research Information Systems) and GLAM (Gallery Library Archive Museum) – due to its flexibility. The company also strengthened its presence in the international market, securing new contracts, including the Imperial College of London, the University of Cambridge, the COAR consortium (Confederation of Open Access Repositories, an association of over 160 members from more than 50 countries, representing libraries, universities, and research institutes), the University of Basel, and the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. This has boosted 4Science’s foreign market share to over 67%, with clients in Europe, the USA, Latin America, and the Far East.
Notable orders include Harvard University and the CDL (California Digital Library) of the University of California, a result of the company’s expansion into the U.S. with the opening of 4Science’s American office in Kansas City.
